Why We Tell the Hard Stories

The stories we’re told to keep quiet are often the ones that need to be heard. At AMGTS, we share the truth because real change starts with being seen.

Some stories never make it to the surface. They’re buried under shame, fear, or the pressure to keep going like nothing happened.

At A Mom’s Guide to Survive, we believe those are exactly the stories that need to be told.

Not for shock value. Not to win sympathy. But because silence helps no one.

Telling the truth about what it means to parent through trauma, poverty, or loss doesn’t make us weak. It makes us free.

We tell hard stories because too many moms are living them in isolation.
Because systems aren’t built to hear them.
Because when one mom speaks, it gives another mom permission to stop hiding.

Some of us have been labeled unfit, unstable, or unworthy just for being human in impossible circumstances. That narrative doesn’t change until we speak louder than it.

This blog isn’t just a collection of posts. It’s a living archive of what survival really looks like. Some entries will read like letters. Some will share updates on the work we’re doing. Others will carry stories from moms who have found their voices again.

There will be no sugarcoating. No inspirational spin. Just truth, grief, grit, and the deep hope that comes from being seen.

If you’re ready to share your story, we welcome it.
If you’re not, we’ll hold space until you are.

Either way, you’re not alone here.
